Carl and I pulled off to the side of the interstate somewhere along the Columbia River between Pendleton and Biggs.  It just looked so beautiful I couldn’t resist and I was so tired and stressed from the weekend, I couldn’t sit in the truck on that endless stretch of road between Ashland and M-F for one more minute without stretching my legs and having a bit of adventure. : )

Which leads me to yet another of the many reasons I am in love with Carl.  When I made my lightning fast decision to pull over and run all over the countryside, the Captain (as he is now, often called :)  was fast asleep in the passenger seat no doubt dreaming pleasant dreams about even more sleep seeing as how he got so little of it.  He didn’t even open his eyes till I said his name and then he just smiled and reached for the dog leash.

He is always up for anything and since the day I met him ten years ago he has always been able to throw Plan A out the window on a whim for a Plan B that is rarely, in actuality, a plan at all.  He loves spontaneous adventures, he loves all my wild ideas and even aides and abets my constant trespassing along every beautiful highway or byway.

He’s definitely a keeper.  : )

This weekend Carl and I are in Miltion-Freewater with his family for the wedding of a childhood friend of his.  Its also the weekend of Orion’s first roadtrip and his first time meeting everyone, including Pokey (Carl’s sister’s choodle) whom he gets along with fantastically.  Why?lee stayed home with Thom Thom and even though I miss him like crazy (I always do when he have to leave him behind) its been nice to not have to worry that my dog is going to eat anything important (like another dog for instance) while I’m not paying attention.  : )

The wedding was beautiful, Kate’s dress was gorgeous and I found myself taking mental notes for our wedding next year.  Carl and I were both all sorts of emotional at the most random things and I had to laugh at us and how our long road home has changed the way we view things.  I met two people there who actually remembered me from Carl’s senior prom!

There was the traditional lunch at Burger Hut and the traditional trip to Wal-Mart and a rogue trip to Macy’s because Carl forgot his pants.  That’s right folks, for the second time in the past two months, Carl forgot pants.  : )

Now the family is out golfing and I stayed back to have a little time to myself, get all Carl and I’s things packed up and loaded in the truck, walk the dogs and be ready to take the first shift driving.  Its been a great weekend and there are some great pics.  To check em’ out, CLICK HERE, HERE and HERE! : )
